Summary

Darley, the eldest daughter in the well-connected, carefully guarded, old-money Stockton family, followed her heart, trading her job and inheritance for motherhood, sacrificing more of herself than she ever intended。 Sasha, middle-class and from New England, has married into the Brooklyn Heights family and finds herself cast as the arriviste outsider, wondering how she might ever understand their WASP-y ways。 Georgiana, the baby of the family, has fallen in love with someone she can’t (and really shouldn’t) have and must confront the kind of person she wants to be。

Rife with the indulgent pleasures of life among New York’s one-percenters, Pineapple Street is a smart escapist novel that sparkles with wit。 It’s about the peculiar unknowability of someone else’s family, the miles between the haves and have-nots and everything in between, and the insanity of first love。

I found this to be an ordinary book with a thin plot and stereotypical, unlikeable characters。 There are many names of actual places listed that attempt to ground this in reality, but with so few details or depth, it all feels very superficial。 Anyone could use Yelp and write this。 I really don’t understand the hype surrounding this book。 Maybe a strong editor could have provided guidance with some revision and substance。 Don’t be fooled by comparisons to Wharton or Fitzgerald。 Read them or pick I found this to be an ordinary book with a thin plot and stereotypical, unlikeable characters。 There are many names of actual places listed that attempt to ground this in reality, but with so few details or depth, it all feels very superficial。 Anyone could use Yelp and write this。 I really don’t understand the hype surrounding this book。 Maybe a strong editor could have provided guidance with some revision and substance。 Don’t be fooled by comparisons to Wharton or Fitzgerald。 Read them or pick up a copy of Town and Country instead。 。。。more

Fantastic!! An absolute delight (as long as you are not turned off by stories about the über rich)。 So well written, insightful and funny with a perfect pace and enough action to keep the reader engaged throughout。 Was looking forward to this and it did not disappoint, unless you count that I sped through it in 3 days and now that it's over, there's no more Jenny Jackson to read! The world of Pineapple Street is inhabited by a family with adult children and their spouses living in a bubble of wealthy privilege。 Jackson manages to create believable characters who by the end of the novel are more enlightened than in the opening pages。 I found the window into their lives both entertaining and humorous。

Sometimes I do not want to read about the lives of extremely wealthy people because I find it boring, and when it comes to commercial fiction, I sometimes can find it dry。 However, this was really good and executed well, as it reflects society today。 Once I got into this, I couldn't put this down。 Sometimes I do not want to read about the lives of extremely wealthy people because I find it boring, and when it comes to commercial fiction, I sometimes can find it dry。 However, this was really good and executed well, as it reflects society today。 Once I got into this, I couldn't put this down。 。。。more

Absolutely loved this one! The plot was really interesting and it was easy to get attached to the lovable (if fallible) characters。

This was a decent read。 Basically it follows the Stockton family, part of the NY 1% in Brooklyn Heights。This character driven glimpse into this family follows three main narrators, sisters Darley and Geogiana (of the Stockton blood) and Sasha, the woman who married their brother and married into the nonsense of wealth, privilege and class。This was not usually the type of story I seek out but was curious as it popped up here and there。 Even though most of the book centers around removed, entitled This was a decent read。 Basically it follows the Stockton family, part of the NY 1% in Brooklyn Heights。This character driven glimpse into this family follows three main narrators, sisters Darley and Geogiana (of the Stockton blood) and Sasha, the woman who married their brother and married into the nonsense of wealth, privilege and class。This was not usually the type of story I seek out but was curious as it popped up here and there。 Even though most of the book centers around removed, entitled people, there were some moments of revelation, warmth and humor。Not sure this one will stick with me but it was a decent break from my usual reads。Narration by Marin Ireland was excellent。。。she is amazing! 。。。more

This book was a slow start for me, but once I was in the second half or so, I really enjoyed it。 I will say that I typically enjoy a strong plot vs books that give glimpses of lifestyles, etc。 For me, this book was more of the latter。 During the middle, I became interested in a couple of the sub-plots, and ended up enjoying it。 3。5 stars rounded up to 4。

Crazy Rich WASPs, or, as the publishers wimped out and called it, "Pineapple Street" is a witty, escapist, intricately woven tapestry of self-indulgent, privileged family dynamics set in contemporary Brooklyn Heights。 Apparently written by the reincarnated Jane Austen, who is currently living as one Jenny Jackson。 Three wealthy millennial women trying to figure it all out。 Mainly trying to sort out the trappings of wealth。 It offers a steady stream of delightfully amusing observations of Brookly Crazy Rich WASPs, or, as the publishers wimped out and called it, "Pineapple Street" is a witty, escapist, intricately woven tapestry of self-indulgent, privileged family dynamics set in contemporary Brooklyn Heights。 Apparently written by the reincarnated Jane Austen, who is currently living as one Jenny Jackson。 Three wealthy millennial women trying to figure it all out。 Mainly trying to sort out the trappings of wealth。 It offers a steady stream of delightfully amusing observations of Brooklyn life among the privileged one-percenters。 At times the narrative reads like a slightly tipsy anthropologist acerbically musing about the foibles of some exotic tribe, let’s call them The Prenup People。 Nothing too challenging here, for sure, but it amuses relentlessly。 It’s decidedly girlier than my usual read。 But, much to my surprise, it held my interest。 The very model of a modern major beach read。 。。。more

Jenny Jackson pins down what it means to live the life of old money and what that buys you in social standing and subsequent classism。 Her book offers a fascinating glimpse into the Stockton family’s drama。 The inside relational discords, the petty grievances, and the importance of a good tablescape。 Read this for a spring break or summer escape and then let the layers peel away as you look beneath the shiny surface to what lurks underneath。 Half satire, half truth- enjoy the reading experience Jenny Jackson pins down what it means to live the life of old money and what that buys you in social standing and subsequent classism。 Her book offers a fascinating glimpse into the Stockton family’s drama。 The inside relational discords, the petty grievances, and the importance of a good tablescape。 Read this for a spring break or summer escape and then let the layers peel away as you look beneath the shiny surface to what lurks underneath。 Half satire, half truth- enjoy the reading experience of this book and take away what you want from it。 Thank you to NetGalley for an advanced reader’s copy。 。。。more

3。5 stars。This was a fun, fast-paced story of the super rich who eventually, for different reasons, have to actually think about what it means to be super rich。 it doesn't take itself too seriously and it was a fun read。 3。5 stars。This was a fun, fast-paced story of the super rich who eventually, for different reasons, have to actually think about what it means to be super rich。 it doesn't take itself too seriously and it was a fun read。 。。。more

Pineapple Street is a character driven novel that is centered around a stately family home on Pineapple Street in NYC。 The author writes well and the story is very easy to read。 Had I not been so busy, I could have easily read this in two days。 You are immersed in the story, and without realizing it, you can see the limestone house on Pineapple Street in your head。 The characters have a developed arc and you come to know them more deeply - as they come to understand themselves better - as the st Pineapple Street is a character driven novel that is centered around a stately family home on Pineapple Street in NYC。 The author writes well and the story is very easy to read。 Had I not been so busy, I could have easily read this in two days。 You are immersed in the story, and without realizing it, you can see the limestone house on Pineapple Street in your head。 The characters have a developed arc and you come to know them more deeply - as they come to understand themselves better - as the story progresses。 That being said, this was a novel about the Uber rich elite in New York, people who are so wealthy they have housekeepers and trusts and prenups and membership to the elite tennis clubs。 The characters in this book aren’t particularly relatable nor likable。 They do go through their individual reckonings by the end and that is admirable, but it was hard for me to have a ton of empathy for their problems。 They were real problems, to be sure。 I think the bigger goal was to deal with how money guided these peoples choices in ways that they maybe didn’t like, or unknowingly didn’t want or need, and how it created cages for them。 But again, hard to feel empathy for these kinds of specific elite and privileged struggles。 I will l say this, though: the author created a world where I wanted to find out what happened, even though I wasn’t particularly invested in what specifically that outcome was。 3。75 stars。 。。。more

I am not sure what to make of this book。 Parts I liked, parts were eye rolling annoying, and parts fell flat for me。 I would’ve liked to have seen more character development on Sasha‘s side of the story。 The whole storyline with Georgiana was the eye rolling part。 Can’t feel sorry for someone who knowingly has an affair with a married man。 It read faster than I thought for me, but probably not a book I’d recommend to anybody。

Entertaining and engaging read。 I found it hard to have much sympathy for most of the characters, who are so steeped in generational wealth。Sasha and Darley are interesting but many characters are one dimensional。

This was so fun, and surprisingly funny。 I’m still laughing over some of the one-liners, especially from Darley’s kids and Cord/Sasha。 Is it anything super memorable or ground-breakingly original? No。 Did I care?
